Corn futures faded back on Thursday, after rallying in the first half of the week with contracts slipping 3 to 4 ¼ cents in the front months. Deferreds were down as much at 8 ¼ cents. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price was back down 3 cents at $4.82.

Export Sales data from this morning showed 31,220 MT of old crop corn for the week of 31,220 MT in the week ending on August 20. That was a marketing year low. The Netherlands was the buyer of 100,560 MT, with 84,200 MT sold to Japan, and a total of 277,500 MT cancelled for unknown buyers, most of which was switched to a destination.

New crop bookings were tallied at 1.066 MMT in that week. Unknown destinations was the buyer of 438,000 MT, with 208,800 MT sold to Mexico and 92,500 MT to Honduras. That was a marketing year high for new crop bookings. Total accumulated sales for 2026/27 were tallied to 12.458 MMT, which was down 33.6% from the same week a year ago, but still the 4th largest for the current week going back 30 years. 

Sep 26 Corn  closed at $5.10 1/4, down 3 3/4 cents,

Nearby Cash  was $4.82, down 3 cents,

Dec 26 Corn  closed at $5.33 1/2, down 3 cents,

Mar 27 Corn  closed at $5.47 1/4, down 3 1/2 cents,

New Crop Cash  was $4.84 3/4, down 5 cents,
